tight end said he will not let an apparent second-half benching against the Green Bay Packers discourage him and that he will continue to work hard and control the only aspects of his game that he can control going forward.
Davis on Sunday started against the Green Bay Packers, but and none in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile the Redskins went to rookie Jordan Reed, who . Reed played a unit-high 29 snaps against Green Bay while fellow tight end Logan Paulsen played 25 and Davis played 16.
Asked about the role reversal, Coach Mike Shanahan said, “Most of the decisions we make are based on how people practice and what gives us the best opportunity to win. So if a guy goes into those situations, broncos jerseys, it means that he’s done a great job during the week and we feel like he deserved that opportunity. Or it could be a guy drops a ball during a game, the other’s guy is hot, and you go in that direction. There are a lot of factors that are involved. You’re trying to do what you think gives you the best chance to win.”
Davis said that he hadn’t been told of any lapses in his practice performances. He acknowledged blowing one assignment in the Packers game, but didn’t believe that should have caused the team to go away from him.
“I work hard in practice. I do pretty good,” Davis said. “I do my job, so I don’t feel like that’s stopping me. I had one [missed assignment], maybe one [missed assignment] in the game the other day. I don’t know if that might’ve changed it, but that happens in games.”
The lack of activity late in the game caught him off guard.
“It was a surprise, and kind of frustrating because you want to help out, especially when you’re not winning. So,Eric Decker Jersey, I just had to roll with the punches,” he said.
Davis,Sylvester Williams Jersey, who this offseason became a free agent but re-signed with the Redskins over the Buffalo Bills,, said the only way he knows how to handle the situation is to practice and play hard.
“Keep working and do what I can control,” Davis said. “I can’t control the opportunity to play, so I just do what I can in practice and games so people will see on film.”
