iOS updates cause TV app problems

Apple’s upgrade to its iOS operating system for the iPhone and iPad caused serious problems for some of the industry’s TV apps.
Sky Deutschland CEO Brian Sullivan told last week’s CTAM EuroSummit in Barcelona that the upgraded had resulted in a significant performance reduction in Sky-D’s version of the Sky Go app.
Sullivan explained that while Tuesday’s relay of the Champions League had passed off without issue,,Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth call off engagement, Wednesday night’s matches had suffered from serious buffering problems. When engineers checked it emerged other operators were experiencing the same difficulties as Apple users keen to be first to put iOS 7 on their phones slowed down the web. Some reports suggest usage rates twice that of normal volumes.
A separate problem was discovered with the Virgin TV Anywhere app,, which produced a series of error messages.
Virgin’s app team soon rectified the issue and a new version was quickly released through the Apple App Store.
